OUR GROUNDS

Our home ground is the Meeniyan Recreation Reserve, located at 15 Hanily Street, Meeniyan. Since 1977, the Club has proudly played all our home matches at this venue.

However, it hasn’t always been so. Following the amalgamation in 1964, the M.D.U. Club began the season at the Meeniyan ground but finished at the Dumbalk Recreation Reserve. Between 1965 and 1968, the Club often started the season at Dumbalk and finished at Meeniyan. In 1969, the season began at Meeniyan and concluded at Dumbalk — the final year the season was split between the two venues.

The following years saw the Club alternate between the two grounds: 1970 at Dumbalk, 1971 at Meeniyan, 1972 at Dumbalk, 1973–74 at Meeniyan, and 1975–76 at Dumbalk while Meeniyan Recreation Reserve underwent reconstruction.

Since 1977, all home matches have been played at Meeniyan. Dumbalk Reserve hasn’t been completely forgotten, though, as it has occasionally been used in recent years as a pre-season training venue for our footballers.

We are proud that Meeniyan Recreation Reserve got to host the Alberton League Grand Final from 2014 to 2018, and, following our move to the Mid Gippsland League, also hosted the 2024 Grand Final. We were set to host the 2025 Grand Final, but with unexpected wet weather and heavy use of the oval, the ground wasn’t quite up to scratch.

We hope to have the privilege of hosting a Grand Final again and welcoming other teams and supporters back to our home ground.
